SAN RAMON, California – Chevron has repeated its report on the status of oil sheen at the Frade project offshore Brazil. Chevron Brazil says its well control operations are successful and that the seafloor seep volume has decreased.

Chevron had gotten permission from the Brazilian National Agency of Petroleum late this past Sunday to P&A the appraisal well that is suspected of contributing to the oil seeping through the ocean bed. Chevron is continuing operations toward final cementing of the well and says it will continue to monitor circumstances.

The total sheen volume is estimated at 400-650 bbl. The company says it has six vessels working in pairs to contain and recover the oil, and two boats addressing mechanical dispersion.
