ABB to service BP Norway safety, automation systems

BP Norway has awarded ABB a three-year frame agreement worth $33 million.

ZURICH, Switzerland – BP Norway has awarded ABB a three-year frame agreement worth $33 million. This covers maintenance, modification and service of the safety and automation systems of all BP’s oil field operations on the Norwegian continental shelf.

The agreement includes an option to extend for 10 additional two-year terms.

ABB will provide support for the safety and automation systems installed at the Valhalland Ula facilities, and the remotely operated Hod and Tambar facilities. Also included in the contract are the telecommunications systems at Skarv in the Norwegian Sea.

By optimizing performance of safety and automation systems, the productive life of the fields should be increased, as well as ensuring process, personnel and environmental safety.

ABB will also provide simulation technology to increase overall safety.
