Eni to operate block 35 in deepwater Angola

The Angolan Juri has awarded Eni participation and operatorship of block 35 150 km (93 mi) offshore Luanda.

MILAN, Italy – The Angolan Juri has awarded Eni participation and operatorship of block 35 150 km (93 mi) offshore Luanda. The deepwater block covers 4,831 sq km (1,865 sq mi) of potential pre-salt acreage.

The award is subject to the Angolan Ministry of Petroleum decision if there is any appeal of the Juri decision. The Juri consists of representatives of the Petroleum ministry, Sonangol, and the Ministry of Finance.

The award involves the drilling of two wells and conducting 3D seismic surveys on a 2,500 sq km area, which will be carried out in the first five years. Eni has a 30% interest; Sonangol Pesquisa & Producao, 45%; and Repsol, 25%.
