HOUSTON – Helix Energy Solutions Group Inc. has agreed to make its Fast Response System, a spill response resource, available in the Gulf of Mexico. Helix signed the agreement with Clean Gulf Associates for a two-year term.
Helix also signed individual agreements with 19 CGA member companies fixing the day rates to be charged in the event of deployment.
The Helix Fast Response System uses both the Helix Producer I and the Q4000, both of which participated in the Macondo spill control efforts.
Helix says the HFRS can handle up to 55,000 b/d of oil, 70,000 b/d of liquids, and 95 MMcf/d of gas, at 10,000 psi in water depths to 8,000 ft.
