MAIDENHEAD, UK – Costain is participating in a project commissioned by the UK’s Energy Technologies Institute (ETI) to investigate suitable offshore sites for carbon-dioxide (CO2) storage.

Under the 12-month program, funded by the UK’s Department of Energy & Climate Change (DECC), Costain is working with Pale Blue Dot Energy and Axis Wells Technology to deliver a screened and appraised portfolio of offshore deep geological CO2 storage sites.

These could serve future Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) projects beyond the currentDECC CCS commercialization program.

Costain will appraise the offshore infrastructure requirements and costs, driving progression of five offshore sites to meet Britain’s 2030 target for injecting CO2 emissions from its various power stations.
