EDINBURGH, UK  Bowleven and Lukoil have not exercised their pre-emptions rights concerning Perenco’s proposed assumption of operatorship of the Etinde permit offshore Cameroon, according to a June 7 Bowleven news release.

The French company has a conditional agreement to acquire current operator New Age’s operated interest.

However, the takeover remains subject to regulatory approvals by the Cameroon government, competition approval and exclusive exploitation authorization (EEA) Titulaire confirmation.

Bowleven CEO Eli Chahin described Perenco as a “high-caliber international operator with strong and longstanding roots within the Cameroon ecosystem."

Chahin added, “We believe that the project will benefit from best-in-class technical capability and a partner that brings additional optionality in ensuring a positive outcome for all stakeholders."

The Etinde permit, containing oil, gas and condensate discoveries, is close to the coast in shallow water.
