PETRONAS Carigali has produced first gas from the Bindu Field development, 210 km offshore the state of Terengganu, Peninsular Malaysia.

Production started on June 9, when the company became operator of the Gas Production Sharing Contract (GPSC), Petronas confirmed in an Aug. 26 news release.

This is the first greenfield project under the GPSC terms; the company and partner ExxonMobil Exploration and Production Malaysia both hold 50% stakes in the concession.

Development involved commissioning and installing a new wellhead platform connected via a 62-km subsea pipeline to the Guntong E production hub.

At peak, Bindu should deliver 75 MMscf/d of gas.
