Serica Energy has reported that the ramp-up of production through the Dana Petroleum-operated Triton FPSO has been slower than expected, following extended periods of disruption due to equipment repairs.

After the initial resumption of production from the Bittern Field (which needed to start up first as its associated gas provides gas lift for other wells and fuel gas for the FPSO), an issue with the gas-lift system prevented other Triton fields from being brought back online.

In addition, other minor but necessary work required a short cessation of production to rectify.

Now that the remedial work is complete, the restart of the Triton fields, including new wells, should proceed more quickly. Production from Bittern was due to be followed rapidly by Serica’s 100%-owned Evelyn and Gannet fields.

Thereafter, new wells drilled on Guillemot North West and Evelyn will go onstream for the first time. The BE01 well on Serica’s Belinda Field, which flow tested at constrained rates of up to 7,500 boe/d, should start producing at the beginning of next year, following work to tie-in to the Triton FPSO.

Serica CEO Chris Cox said, “We are continuing to drive discussions with senior management at Dana regarding the optimal way to run the FPSO going forward.”

Triton joint venture partners are Dana Petroleum (E&P) Ltd. (52%), Serica Energy Mistral Ltd. (46%) and Waldorf Production UK Plc/Waldorf Petroleum Resources Ltd. (2%).
