LLOG and its partners continue to pursue opportunities to optimize and sustain production from the Who Dat area in the US Gulf of Mexico (GoM), Karoon Energy said in an operations update.
One issue they have been addressing has been bottlenecks in the G-manifold subsea production system.
Production at Who Dat was above 42,000 boe/d in late June before falling back again.
The successful Who Dat East exploration/appraisal well earlier this year intersected liquids-rich gas condensate in 45 m of good quality net pay in a series of Miocene turbidite reservoirs. The well has since been suspended as a potential future producer.
Studies are underway for a potential tieback development using the data collected.
In September, Seadrill’s West Neptune drillship is due to spud the Who Dat South exploration well, and the partners have also just approved a third exploration well, Who Dat West, which should spud toward the end of the year.
Project updates offshore Brazil
Offshore Brazil, Karoon and its partners are progressing concept select activities for the Neon development in the Santos basin, having received reprocessed 3D seismic over Neon and Neon West. Results of the interpretation will assist remodeling of the reservoir and potential development well placements and design, with Decision Gate 2 decision (FEED entry) possible during first-half 2025.
The Baúna FPSO operator is implementing heightened maintenance and inspection activities to improve reliability and uptime on the vessel. This will cause production fluctuations as systems are periodically taken offline.
Last month, work on the gas compressors impacted production, but rates have since recovered to about 25,500 bbl/d ahead of natural decline resuming.
Industrial action at the Brazilian environmental agency, IBAMA, has delayed approvals for the SPS-88 intervention, and the equipment supplier targeted for this program has since reassigned its drilling rig to other activities.
As a result, the intervention has been deferred into first-half 2025, subject to contracting and regulatory approvals, with the well targeted to be back online in mid-2025.
