STAVANGER, Norway --Roxar is supplying its subsea Wetgas meters to FMC Technologies for use on Statoil's Alve and other fields in the Norwegian sector.

The meters are said to provide real-time measures of hydrocarbon flow rates and water production, and online detection of formation water breakthrough. They can detect changes in water production with a sensitivity of better than 0.005% volume.

This was important in Alve's case, as Statoil was seeking to build a clearer picture of the reservoir, also allowing it to undertake remedial action if required, such as optimized chemical injection. Alve is being tied back to the Norne FPSO, where Roxar also installed a multiphase meter in 2005.
