LONDON, UK --Nexen reports that eight development wells now are on stream at its Buzzard field in the central North Sea.

The central production platform is designed to process up to 200,000 b/d of oil and 60 MMcf/d of gas.

According to Nexen CEO Charlie Fischer, "the pressure response we have seen indicates reservoir connectivity is outstanding."

Elsewhere in the North Sea, the company is examining options to develop its Golden Eagle discovery, and it is under way with an appraisal well on the Selkirk prospect in block 22/22b, where the pre-drill unrisked resource estimate was 10-20 MMboe. It also plans further appraisal drilling on the Bugle structure.
