Offshore staff

ABERDEEN, UK --Total E&P has contracted Wood Group Pressure Control for 5 1/8-in. and 6 3/8-in. spacer spools, under a $1 million-plus contract.

Total ordered the equipment to assist gas lift in its Alwyn field wells. The spools will be installed next summer between an existing wellhead and production tree on the Alwyn platform, the aim being to increase production via use of a concentric inverse gas lift system. This will deploy coiled tubing to the bottom of the well, where high pressure gas will be injected.

The spools are 1.3 m (4.26 ft) tall and rated to 10,000 lb working pressure. They are needed to seal and house other components critical in the deployment of the gas lift system.
