Norway's gas exports set to rise
Offshore staff
OSLO, Norway --Norway exported 84.2 bcm/yr (2.97 tcf) of gas last year to mainland Europe and the UK via its offshore trunkline system, according to the network operator Gassco. This was roughly the same volume as in 2005.
Additionally, the system delivered 2.7 bcm (95.35 bcf) for injection in fields on the Norwegian shelf.
Gassco says the flattening of deliveries should be temporary. Factors included a warm winter, production problems afflicting various fields, and the absence of supplies from new fields in 2006.
Exports should start rising, however, when output ramps up from the recently on stream Ormen Lange project. The Njord field was also due to start gas deliveries this month, as is the Tampen pipeline link tying Statfjord to Britain's Flags trunkline system.
