Woodside gets nod for Pluto development

PERTH, Western Australia -- Australia's Commonwealth Minister for the Environment and Water Resources has granted Woodside Petroleum Ltd. environmental approval for the Pluto LNG project offshore Western Australia.
Commonwealth environmental approval is the last of the key state and federal environmental and heritage approvals required for the project to proceed, Woodside says. This approval allows construction of the Pluto LNG project to begin.
The Pluto development is scheduled to begin supplying LNG to Kansai Electric and Tokyo Gas by the end of 2010.
