PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad and Tobago –BP Trinidad and Tobago has started gas production from Mango field in the South East Galeota block 35 mi southeast of Galeota Point in 235 ft ( 72 m) of water. The production goes to Atlantic LNG's liquefaction plant.
The single, unmanned platform can produce gas from nine wells for export through a four-mile long, 26-in (66-cm) pipeline tied to the Cannonball pipeline and thence the Cassia B gas processing hub.
"Mango will assist bpTT with its goal of safely and consistently producing 500,000 barrels of oil equivalent a day," says bpTT's chairman and CEO Robert Riley.
The Mango platform was the second to be built to the standardized design of the Cannonball platform. Cannonball, installed in 2005, was the first offshore platform designed in Trinidad. The 950-ton (862 metric ton) Mango jacket and the 980 ton (889 metric ton) topsides were built at the Trinidad Offshore Fabricators in La Brea, south Trinidad.
