Hydro boost Fram area reserves
Offshore staff
OSLO, Norway --Hydro has discovered more oil in the Fram area of the Norwegian North Sea. The new find, named H-North, was drilled by the semi-submersible Transocean Winner in 363 m (1,190-ft) of water.
Exploration well 35/11-15S and a subsequent sidetrack were drilled to respective subsurface depths of 3,177 m (10,423-ft) and 2,961 m (9,714-ft), terminating in Upper Jurassic rocks. Both wells encountered oil, with some gas also in the main well.
This was Hydro's fourteenth exploratory well in license 090; in 2005, it discovered the Astero and Peon oil accumulations, and is presently working on development concepts for both. TheTransocean Winner will move west to the Norwegian Sea to drill another exploratory well for Hydro, on the Njord field in license PL 107.
