OSLO, Norway --Gassco has the consent of Norway's Petroleum Safety Authority to operate the new 23.1 km (14.36 mi) Tampen Link gas pipeline system. This connects the Statfjord B platform in the Norwegian North Sea with the UK's Flags gas trunkline.

The new line was installed to increase exports of gas from Norway to the UK, and should be available for service from Oct. 1. Statfjord operator Statoil also has clearance to start using the associated new Tampen Link riser on the platform and pipeline end manifold.

Stafjord B has been modified to handle produced gas from the Statfjord reservoir under the field's late phase depressurization project. Gas from other Norwegian fields will also feed through the new line via a connection to the Gassled gas transportation network.
