ISTANBUL, Turkey --First gas is imminent from TPAO's East Ayazli and Ayazli fields in the Turkish Black Sea, according to partner Stratic Energy.

East Ayazli has been delayed by repairs to the spur line tying the field's tripod into the trunkline from the Akkaya production complex to the shore. Following installation of the Ayazli tripod deck, both fields should come on stream shortly.

Production at Akkaya had to be choked back from 17.5MMcf/d to 13MMcf/d to lower operating pressure in the trunkline while the repairs were under way. Once the two new satellites are on line, gross production should climb to 50MMcf/d, in line with previous estimates.

TPAO also has performed conceptual studies for Phase 2 development of the deeper water Akcakoca discoveries. According to Stratic, this likely will involve a separate facility at Akcacoca with limited platform drilling capability, tied back to the Phase 1 production system. A front-end engineering and design contract should be awarded this fall, with a view to start-up in mid-2009.
