Statoil starts up Snøhvit LNG
Offshore staff
STAVANGER, Norway --The Statoil-operated LNG plant in Hammerfest, northern Norway has received first gas from the Snøhvit field in the Barents Sea.
The facility is separating Snøhvit's well stream and re-forming it into liquefied natural gas for export. Gas produced from the field previously flowed to the process plant's slug catcher, but this is the first time supplies have reached the process equipment.
Statoil's partners in Snøhvit are Petoro, Total, GdF, Amerada Hess, and RWE Dea.
