ABERDEEN, UK --Total is developing the Jura gas condensate field in the UK northern North Sea, four months after making the discovery.

The company estimates the field's proven and probable reserves at over 170 MMboe. Jura will be tied back to the Forvie North subsea manifold via a 3 km (2 mi) pipeline, with production heading from there to the Alwyn North processing platform. Jura should come onstream in spring 2008, producing around 45,000 boe/d at peak.

Total plans further exploration in UK waters, starting with an appraisal well on the high pressure, high temperature Kessog field near its Elgin Franklin complex in the central sector, followed by a well probing the Jura East prospect.
