First gas flows from Australia’s Netherby field
Offshore staff
SYDNEY, Australia -- First gas has flowed from the Netherby field offshore Australia back to an onshore processing facility in Iona, says AWE.
AWE is developing the Netherby and Henry gas fields in VIC/P44 in conjunction with joint venture partners. During stage two development, the two offshore fields will be tied in to the existing Casino subsea facilities.
Construction of the new offshore facilities, which started in early December 2009, was completed on Feb. 15. The project included installation of 22 km (14 mi) of subsea pipelines and control umbilical lines, stabilized with 650 concrete mattresses and diver-installed tie-in spools.
Commissioning and ramp-up to full production will continue over the coming weeks, AWE says.
