Newfield draws first oil from Sargent

HOUSTON -- The Sargent development in the Gulf of Mexico deepwater is flowing approximately 38 MMcfe/d gross, according to partner Newfield. The project is a single-well tieback from Garden Banks block 339.

Meanwhile, the company has three additional deepwater developments under way in the Gulf. They include Gladden, with first production expected late this year, and Dalmatian and Pyrenees are anticipated to start-up next year.

Newfield currently is drilling two exploration wells – one on Saluki in Garden Banks block 425 and the other on Axe in DeSoto Canyon block 4 – and expects to participate in one to two additional deepwater wells this year.
