Shell halts East Area Nigeria production

Shell Petroleum Production Co. has stopped production temporarily to repair FPSO- to-mooring platform connections, according to a report from Dow Jones.

IBADAN, Nigeria -- Shell Petroleum Production Co. has stopped production temporarily to repair FPSO- to-mooring platform connections, according to a report from Dow Jones. The shut-down of the100,000 b/d of oil flow is a precaution to prevent a release during repairs.

The repair work was scheduled for this coming May, but weather, including a storm late this past March, pushed the schedule forward.
