ABERDEEN – BIS Salamis and Merpro have jointly developed a new sand removal system for the offshore sector.

The mobile system, designated RESTORE, is said to occupy a smaller footprint than competing equipment. It allows for online solids removal at operating pressure, eliminating the need for a production shut-down.
Jack Davidson, Environmental Business Manager for BIS Salamis, said: “We saw an opportunity to develop a system which could potentially reduce operating costs incurred due to production shutdown during solids removal.”

“By taking our well established service experience and combining it with Merpro’s sand handling technology expertise, we came up with a practical solution which could combine the usual separate stages of sand washing, solids removal storage and disposal. Effectively, RESTORE becomes an integral part of the production system.”
