FREDERICIA, Denmark -- Due to rough North Sea weather, production from Siri field in the Danish North Sea is not expected to resume until later this month.
On Aug. 31, 2009, operator DONG Energy halted production from the field after a routine inspection revealed cracks in a subsea structure connected to the oil storage tank underneath the Siri platform.
The company has developed a temporary solution using a metal frame to support the subsea structure. DONG Energy expects to complete installation work and to resume production during January, depending on weather.
The Nini East field, also operated by DONG Energy, is fully developed with three new wells and is expected to begin initial production shortly after the Siri platform resumes production.
