(Canada) - Production has resumed at the Terra Nova FPSO vessel after a small oil spill of some three or four bbl of oil caused a 10-day suspension.

The Canada-Newfoundland and Labrador Petroleum Board (C-NLOPB) gave the go-ahead Monday.

Production is expected to reach its normal level of 60,000 b/d within a week.

A leaky drain tank pipe was determined to be the cause of the spill, which was discovered on April 21.

Some of the oil had seeped into the ocean, but no oil-slicked seabirds have been found. Two ships responded to the cleanup call with booms and sweepers.

Surveilllence flights determined that the oil slick was gone within three days.

Petro-Canada is the lead operator of the Terra Nova project, located about 350 km east-southeast of St. John's, NL.
