Maersk tackles Gorm F water quality

Compact flotation unit to produced water quality on Gorm

Offshore staff

COPENHAGEN, Denmark -- Maersk Olie Og Gas has commissioned a skid-mounted compact flotation unit (CFU) for its Gorm F platform in the North Sea. The equipment, to be supplied by Opus Maxim, will treat up to 400 cu m/hr (523 cu yd/hr) of produced water, in order to reduce oil-in-water content to 15 ppm. It will complement existing topsides facilities installed downstream of the hydrocyclones.

The CFU will comprise a single train with two stages of separation, and will be configured for series and parallel operation. Guildford, UK-based Opus will build the package as three integrated skid units, to overcome access restrictions for installation offshore, and to facilitate lifting by the platform's crane.
