AMC-Sonsub win mooring and riser installation contract

Bergesen Worldwide (BW) Offshore awarded Aker Marine Contractors, in partnership with Sonsub Ltd, a contract for installation of a mooring and riser system for an FPSO slated for deployment in the Mexican sector of the Gulf of Mexico.

(Mexico) - Bergesen Worldwide (BW) Offshore awarded Aker Marine Contractors, in partnership with Sonsub Ltd, a contract for installation of a mooring and riser system for an FPSO slated for deployment in the Mexican sector of the Gulf of Mexico.

The contracted workscope comprises installation of the turret buoy, mooring system, and risers for the former ULCCBW Enterprise at the Ku-Maloob-Zaap field offshore Mexico, which is operated by BW Offshore.

The FPSO will be the largest ever converted with capacity to handle 600,000 b/d of oil and storage for 2.2 MMbbl. BW Offshore is carrying out the conversion work and will operate the FPSO under a 15-year contract with Pemex.

Installation work is scheduled to begin in 1Q07, using either the Normand Cutter or the BOA Sub C as the primary installation vessel. In addition, a diving vessel will be used for tie-in of the flexible risers.
