COURBEVOIE, France -- Two oil and gas discoveries were made in the Alwyn area of the UK North Sea by Total E&P UK Plc.

The Jura West 3/15-10 found 300 m of gas-bearing Brent reservoir and the 3/9a-N50 found 85 m of gas condensate in the Statfjord formation and 60 m of oil-bearing sands in the Brent.

Jura West is expected to start production in 2008, via a 3 km tie-back to the Forvie North subsea manifold which is linked to the Alwyn North NAB process platform. A second development well and a near-by exploration well already are planned.
