LONDON -- Dubai Petroleum Establishment signed a contract making Petrofac Ltd. responsible for all offshore well and facilities management.
Dubai's offshore assets include four offshore oil fields with about 70 platforms and employing 1,100 personnel. The staff will go over to Petrofac in April 2007.
"This ground-breaking contract with Dubai Petroleum Establishment represents the first time a national government entity has chosen to exploit its hydrocarbon resources through direct contracting with an international service provider and we believe DPE's choice represents the leading edge of an emerging trend," said Ayman Asfari, Petrofac's group chief executive.
