TRONDHEIM, Norway -- New production well A-10A has lifted total output from the Varg field to more than 26,000 b/d from 11,600 b/d in the third quarter, according to operator Talisman Energy. The company expects production to average about 18,000 b/d in 2010.

The well encountered about 150 m (492 ft) of pay, the company reports. Talisman Energy believes a segment southeast of the field, named Storeulv (Big wolf), could hold considerable additional volumes. The company will likely target the segment with one or two new production wells during 1Q 2010.
