RIO DE JANEIRO -- Oil and natural gas production has resumed from the Extended Well Test (EWT) for the Tupi area in the Santos basin, offshore Brazil, according to Petrobras.

Petrobras closed well 3-RJS-646 in early July to replace a wet Christmas tree. The device was replaced successfully in less than two months, the company says.

With the resumption of the EWT, the company will continue collecting reservoir data to learn how fluid will move and drain during production. Petrobras will also gather information about submarine outflow to prepare the Santos basin’s pre-salt pole area development plan.
