HONG KONG -- CNOOC has brought onstream ahead of schedule the Luda (LD) 27-2 field in China’s Bohai Bay. The field is producing 11,000 b/d of oil from 11 wells.
LD 27-2 is in eastern Bohai Bay in around 25 m (82 ft) of water, 104 km (65 mi) northwest of Qinhuangdao City. It is adjacent to the LD 32-2 oil field, another CNOOC project under construction.
To reduce production costs, the company devised a joint development plan for both fields. The facilities for LD27-2/32-2 include two wellhead platforms, one production and storage platform, and 34 production wells.
At peak, production should reach 13,000 b/d. LD 32-2 should come onstream later this year.
