WARRINGTON, UK -- Bacton Storage Company (BSCL) has contracted ESR Technology for a range of services for its proposed offshore/onshore Baird gas storage facilities.

BSCL, formed by Centrica Storage and Perenco UK, plans to store gas in the Baird offshore reservoir, 86 km (53 mi) from England’s north Norfolk coast. Conversion of the Baird field would create a facility with storage capacity of around 60 bcf.

ESR will provide safety-related services during the FEED phase, including an inherent safety review, a hazard identification study, a hazard and operability study, offshore and onshore quantified risk assessments, and a safety integrity level study.

Britain’s largest storage center is the Rough field in the southern North Sea, also operated by Centrica Storage.
