HOUSTON– Marathon’s Volund subsea development in the Norwegian North Sea should be operationally ready for production this fall. However, due to unexpectedly strong production at the host Alvheim FPSO, Volund may not start up until the first half of 2010.

Following a planned 12-day turnaround program this spring, the Alvheim/Vilje fields have been averaging 69,800 boe/d net to Marathon. The timing for Volund will depend on processing capacity becoming available on the FPSO, the company explains.

Marathon holds 65% operated interests in Alvheim and Volund, and is a 47% partner in Vilje.
