Gas flaring halted at Zakum offshore complex

Gas flaring at the Zakum oil fields offshore Abu Dhabi has been reduced to zero, according to operator Abu Dhabi Marine Operating Co.

ABU DHABI, UAEGas flaring at the Zakum oil fields offshore Abu Dhabi has been reduced to zero, according to operator Abu Dhabi Marine Operating Co. 

Mahboob Mian, environment services section leader, said the company had committed to reducing gas flaring to preserve the local environment and cut carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions.

TheZakum gas processing facility project is the company’s first to achieve zero flaring, with 0.4 MMcf/d of gas recovered and reused each day through a vapor recovery system.
