SYDNEY, Australia -- A Galoc oil field FPSO has mobilized back on site, after disconnecting and relocating to calmer waters to wait out typhoon Fengshen in the Sulu Sea. Reconnection procedures began on July 1, 2008.
During the disconnection, the retrieval line connected to the top of the riser to pull it back up from the seafloor was damaged. A new retrieval line is to be attached to the equipment on the seabed before the riser can be lifted for reconnection. This is scheduled for this week, and the riser and mooring tether will then be lifted and reconnected to the FPSO.
