DUBLIN, Ireland --Horizon Energy Partners BV has completed a reservoir engineering report for the Connemara field in Porcupine basin off western Ireland.
Operator Island Oil & Gas and partners Valhalla Oil and Gas and Supernova are analyzing the results. One proposal involves a pilot field development targeting two sections of the field.
One of these, 26/28-2 East, has yet to be appraised. A Statoil-drilled horizontal well intersected the other section, the 26/28-A1 area, but failed to penetrate the main reservoir objective.
Horizon suggests these two areas may contain 63 MMbbl of oil in place relative to a mid-case estimate of 135 MMbbl for the entire field.
Its optimum development scenario, the pilot project calls for a single dual lateral production well targeting both areas, and a water injector for 26/28-2 East to lift oil recovery. This might recover 10,000 b/d of oil in the first year, dropping to 5,200 b/d the following year.
Subsequent reviews of water injection and reservoir performance could be used to re-calibrate the geological model for Connemara, and assist in a full-field development plan.
