OSLO, Norway -- The fire which broke out Wednesday in the compressor area of the BP-operated Valhall PCP platform in the North Sea is out, according to Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA) Norway.
The fire, reported to the Norwegian authorities yesterday, started late in the afternoon. A standby vessel was deployed to put out the fire, and within two hours the blaze was extinguished. All personnel were evacuated, with no injuries.
PSA plans to send two officials to Valhall to investigate the incident.
