OSLO, Norway – Total and partners have agreed to conduct a production test on last month’s Norvarg gas discovery in Barents Sea license PL 535.
Partner Rocksource’s electromagnetic (EM) technology successfully identified the stacked hydrocarbon reservoirs present within the structure. However, testing is needed to shed light on reservoir production properties. The planned program should start shortly, with results expected in early August.
Earlier this month Rocksource participated in a dry well on the Breiflabb prospect in PL 416 in the Norwegian North Sea.
The prospect was characterized by a weak EM anomaly, and has an estimated pre-drill chance of success of 44%.
Rocksource believes that the false positive response (an EM anomaly not associated with hydrocarbon) came from deeper levels that were not penetrated by the well.
