SINGAPORE – The FPSO Lewek EMAS has produced first oil from the Premier Oil-operated Chim Sáo field off southern Vietnam.

This is EMAS Production’s largest FPSO to date. The vessel is on a $1-billion charter contract with Premier.

The contract carries a primary term of six years, with six renewable one-year extension options.

EMAS Managing Director Lionel Lee said: “The Group was able to provide an integrated solution from the provision of the FPSO through EMAS Production and the fabrication of modules at TRIYARDS in Vietnam, to the installation and commissioning of the vessel.”

Lewek EMAS was converted at Keppel Shipyard in Singapore from a 168,000 mt (185,188 t) dwt Suezmax oil tanker. It has an oil storage capacity of around 660,000 bbl and can produce up to 50,000 b/d of oil.

PV Trans EMAS Company Limited (owned jointly by PetroVietnam Transportation Corp and EOC) is providing day-to-day operations and maintenance.
