SANDNES, Norway – Full re-injection of associated gas into the reservoir has started at the Eni-operated Goliat field in the Barents Sea, which came onstream in March.

Re-injection of produced water to minimize environmental impact will begin shortly.

Goliat, 88 km (55 mi) northwest of Hammerfest, is designed to produce up to 100,000 b/d of oil through what is claimed to be the world’s largest circular FPSO, designed by Sevan Marine.

Eni estimates recoverable reserves at around 180 MMbbl, with a projected field life (excluding potential upside in the area) of 20 years.
