Abu Dhabi to boost offshore gas production

Abu Dhabi is taking steps that should result in increased production of natural gas from its offshore fields.

ABU DHABI, UAE –Abu Dhabi is taking steps that should result in increased production of natural gas from its offshore fields.

State-run Abu Dhabi Gas Industries Co. (GASCO) and Abu Dhabi Gas Liquefaction Co. (ADGAS) have awarded about $1.6 billion worth of contracts to develop and expand facilities to boost gas transfer from offshore to onshore as part of the UAE’s plans to meet increasing local demand.

ADGAS, majority-owned byAbu Dhabi National Oil Co., said last year that it planned to increase gas production to as much as 2.4 bcf/d by 2017, up from  the current 2 bcf/d.
