(United States, Gulf of Mexico)-Apache Corp. has announced that seven days after Hurricane Katrina, 76% of its gross operated natural gas production shut-in because of the storm and 60% of operated oil production in storm-affected areas has been restored to pre-storm levels.
In anticipation of the storm, Apache curtailed 565 MMcf/d of operated gas production and 70,120 b/d of oil production. A total of 430 MMcf/d and 41,900 b/d has been restored.
Approximately 28,200 b/d of oil production and 135 MMcf/d of gas production remain shut-in as a result of the hurricane. Of those volumes, 2,000 b/d of oil production and 15 MMcf/d of gas production are ready to be restored as soon as pipelines and other third-party facilities are returned to service. The company expects additional production to be restored as damage is assessed and repaired.
