OSLO, NorwayBW Energy has produced first oil from the Hibiscus South Field on the Dussafu license offshore Gabon, five months following the discovery last November.

The Borr Norve jackup drilled DHBSM-1H as a horizontal well from the BW MaBoMo production platform to a total depth of 5,960 m into Gamba sandstone reservoir.

The well is 5 km southwest of the MaBoMo with a deeper oil-water contact than the nearby Hibiscus Field. Production has stabilized at about 5,000 bbl/d to 6,000 bbl/d, with plans to recover about 6.6 MMbbl of the estimated 22 MMbbl oil in place.

Borr Norve has since now spud the Ruche sidetrack well DRM-3H ST1 on the same license.
