NEW YORK  Exxon Mobil has produced first oil from the Payara development on the Stabroek Block offshore Guyana through the FPSO Prosperity.

Production should build to 220,000 bbl/d of oil over the first half of 2024 as more wells come online, said partner Hess. Overall production capacity on the block is now about 620,000 bbl/d.

Prosperity, which arrived in Guyana in April, is moored in 6,300 ft of water and will develop an estimated resource of more than 600 MMbbl.

Yellowtail and Uaru, the block’s fourth and fifth projects, are progressing and will each have a production capacity of about 250,000 bbl/d. Exxon Mobil is working with the government of Guyana to secure regulatory approvals for a sixth project at Whiptail.

In total, six FPSOs with a gross capacity of more than 1.2 MMbbl/d should be online on the Stabroek Block by year-end 2027, and based on recent discoveries, there is potential for up to 10 FPSOs to develop the gross discovered recoverable resources of more than 11 Bboe.

ExxonMobil Guyana as operator holds a 45% interest in the Stabroek Block, with partners Hess Guyana Exploration holding 30% and CNOOC Petroleum Guyana with 25%.
