RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil  Petrobras will operate three blocks offshore Brazil awarded by the ANP’s 1st Cycle of Permanent Production Sharing Offer bid round.

The company has secured 100% of the Norte de Brava block and will operate the Sudoeste de Sagitário concession in partnership with Shell (Petrobras 60%, Shell 40%).

Finally, Petrobras exercised its pre-emptive right to join the consortium awarded the 1,300-sq km Água Marinha Block in 2,000 m of water, 140 km offshore in the pre-salt Campos Basin, and it will operate with a 30% interest. The partners are TotalEnergies EP (30%), Petronas (20%), and QatarEnergy (20%).

The offer of the percentage of the oil surplus to be made available to the Brazilian government was the sole criterion adopted by the ANP to define the winning proposal.

Petrobras will pay R$729 million in signature bonuses.

Kevin McClachlan, svp, Exploration at TotalEnergies, said his company’s bid was “in line with our strategy to focus exploration on selected high potential basins which can deliver material low cost, low carbon intensity resources”.

In April, the company gained positions in the S-M-1815 and S-M-1711 blocks in the South Santos Basin under the 3rd Cycle of the Permanent offer.
