With this start-up, the entire Ærfugl field is now in production.
The Ærfugl development is a two-phase subsea project. Both phases are tied into the Skarv FPSO, which is about 210 km (130 mi) west of Sandnessjøen. Phase 1, which began production in November 2020, consists of three wells in the southern part of the field. Phase 2 consists of an additional three wells in the northern part of the field.
According to Aker BP, the Ærfugl field development adds five years of lifetime to the Skarv FPSO, and reduces the CO2 emissions by 30-40% per barrel produced.
Aker BP operates the Ærfugl field and holds 30% interest. Its partners are Equinor (30%), Wintershall Dea Norge (25%), and PGNiG Norway (15%).
