ZURICH, Switzerland – ABB and CORYS have agreed to collaborate on digital twin modeling and simulation technology for the energy and process industries.
They have both committed to delivering advances aimed at reducing clients’ capital and operational costs and risks.
ABB uses its ABB Ability 800xA simulator to develop digital replicas of a plant’s control system. By combining this with CORYS’ dynamic Indiss Plus process modeling simulator, the company said, clients will have access to a digital twin solution that supports training and allows them to validate and test control strategies and production processes, as well as manage changes during the lifecycle of operations.
The digital solution should lower capex in greenfield projects, ABB added, through improving the quality of the control applications; reducing the volume of late changes; training the operators; and by reducing the number of commissioning/start-up hours.
Operators can also use the combined digital twin package to build intelligent models and run scenarios to improve plant efficiency and availability, ABB added.
