LONDON – NEO Energy has named ODE Asset Management installation (duty holder) and pipeline operator for the Babbage gas field in the UK southern North Sea.

According to ODE, this is the first dual-role appointment of its type on the UK continental shelf (UKCS).

ODE has acted as operations and maintenance provider for Babbage and its previous operators, transitioning the platform from normally manned to not normally manned status in recent years.

Sandy Reid, managing director of ODE Asset Management, said the company would focus on keeping the facility performing above platform design efficiency levels while also safely minimizing the cost of ownership.

Lynne MacPherson, NEO’s asset manager, added: “The Babbage operatorship is an important milestone for NEO as we develop the company in the UKCS. We continue to see significant value in the region with a strategy to grow, both organically and through acquisition, to achieve production of 80,000-100,000 boe/d.”

NEO has support from North Sea Energy investor HitecVision.
